The star shape school

The star shaped school should be a place where all this symbols to come to life. From the functionality point of view, the star structure will ensure a modern joint between many wings that a contemporary school needs. Our school complex is located in a park, where sports fields, green-space, greenhouse and parking places are insuring all the needs that a modern society should offer. The entire surface of the complex in 40 000m2, the school surface is 11232 m2( 2808m2/level).
In Romanian popular believes, we consider that each person has its own star. When a person dies its star will follow. If the star is a lucky one you will have a bright future. Our star school should be a reason to fulfill students dreams and to increase their chances to a brighter future.The symbol of the star is present on the European Union flag, representing the unity in diversity and creating a common future starting from common values.

The actual structure of the building respects the star shape in the specification, but some angles were added to give a better form to the building.

Our school complex is located in a park, where sports fields, green-space, greenhouse and parking places are insuring all the needs that a modern society should offer. The entire surface of the complex in 40 000 m2, the school surface is 11232 m2( 2808m2/level). The sports grounds are essential for a school. Our school is located into a park next to a football field surrounded by athletics tracks at real sizes. Also the size of the football field are realistic, and you can judge that comparing to the size of the school building.

The locker rooms are located in the star school shape wing next to the out-door sports fields, so the access to its should be made easily.
The greenhouse was added to the original proposal to answer to modern educational experiments in biology classes. If the school has a star shape, the greenhouse has a comet shape, in order to keep the same signification to the entire complex.This building allows pupils to perform any kind of sports they want, at any weather and temperature outside. This is the reason why the school has indoor and outdoor swimming pools. ( At least in our dreams should be enough money to build-it.)The parking places are generous. The main reason for this is the number of students that the school should host and educate. The capacity of the school is for 800 students, that means around 70 teachers.

Indoor facilities

The school has two wings destined for class-rooms. One level has four class-rooms, that will lead to a number of 32 rooms (four levels for each wing), destined for students. Considering that a class-room should include about 25 seats, the building is destined for 800 students.The corridors are large and represent social places for the students. The concept of the school roof is designed to allow natural light. The floors are projected to receive that natural light in the class-rooms wings, along the corridors. Those large corridors will be also destined to host students exhibitions. The natural light offers a good environment to host this kind of activities.
For the access ways, the building uses stairs and elevators. The elevators are designed on the exterior of the building and located at the joints of the building.To plan the access ways we had to take care not to intersect the structural girders and not to interfere with the resistance pole.The elevators are designed next to the resistance pole but respects the thickness of the resistance pole. For this reason the elevators have two doors with different dimensions.
Having natural light is an advantage to transform the inner chambers into green-space. one wing of the building has vegetation that is starting from the first level to the fourth one. You can imagine students walking among green curtain made of vegetation and being in fact inside the building.The structure of strength was conceived to sustain a large opening.
The largest opening is located in the center of the building, where at the third and fourth level it hosts a large theatre for big events such as the graduation ceremony, where large number of persons should be able to attend. The resistance poles (pillars) are situated on parallel lines. On these pillars the resistance girders are installed. The thickness of the girders is calculated with the fraction of 1/14 of the opening. The effect is a great one in case of the level with info-labs, where the imagination should be encourage by the environment.
The sports halls are having an opening of 14 m and a length of 22m. For a school at this sizes it is necessary to have two sports halls. The height of a hall is 7m and this respects the requests accepted by architects. Each sports hall has its own locker rooms and showers. In order to use some triangular space, the showers are located on top of the locker and has an entrance from the locker room.
The central part of the school concentrate the places of the biggest interest for pupils, such as library, secretaryís office, first aid office, at the first level. The central part of the second level host teacherís room, head-masterís office, second head-masterís office, studentís council, accountantís office and the cashierís office. The third and fourth level are united and represent the schoolís amphitheater with a capacity of 600 seats on 7 stairs for seats. The central stage has 10 m diameter .

The roof

Up
The surface of the roof is a green space where student should have access. On top of the roof there is a steel skeleton that is also aesthetic and functional. On this skeleton, it can attach solar panels, but on the area where a sports field will be arranged, the skeleton will ensure shadow and cooler air. The motif of the star can be founded again in the roof, where the joints of the steel skeleton describe a tridimensional rounded star.
This special roof can be seen by street and it will shine on the sun light. The color of the skeleton will be different in different periods of the day. In the morning, when the sunís light is light yellow, that will be the color of the skeleton. In late afternoon, when sun light become red, the color of the roof will became red.
